For the months of May and June, Below the Brine is partnering with other local bookstores - including Reed Books in Harwich Port and Yellow Umbrella Books and Where the Sidewalk Ends Bookstore in Chatham - to serve as a collection point for the Harwich & Chatham Book Drive, organized by the Monomoy Early Childhood Council.
Books collected as part of the drive will be distributed by The Monomoy Early Childhood Family Resource Center, located at the Harwich Elementary School, to children identified in collaboration with the Monomoy elementary school staff, the Harwich Children’s Fund, Chatham Children’s Fund, Cape Cod Family Pantry, Hand of Hope Food Pantry, and WIC.
Interested in donating? Simply stop by Below the Brine or one of the other participating stores to purchase a book for ages infant - ten years, or call us at 774-209-3493 to purchase and donate a book over the phone. We have a list of suggestions ready to make the process simple!
For each book you donate, you'll be entered into a raffle for prizes like an overnight stay at Chatham Bars Inn, lunch at The Wequassett Resort & Golf Club's Outer Bar & Grille, or gift cards to the Chatham Candy Manor or one of the participating bookstores.
More than 700 books were donated during the inaugural drive in 2021, and we're hoping to increase that total for this year!
